Can We Learn To Be More Creative?

Over the past few years we’ve written a lot about ingenuity and how we can start thinking differently, from visual activities like taking a trip or doing doodling on the use of technology successfully. But the idea that art is something we can learn and develop in a very new way.

Creativity is often regarded as a quality that has no value. It has long been accepted as a fact that some of us are born with the ability to think logically and to innovate, while others are less intelligent and more intelligent.

Recently, however, there has been a change in this way of thinking and new studies suggest that intelligence is a skill that we can develop over time.

It is true that creative thinking comes naturally to some people than to others. A study led by neuroscientist Roger Beaty found that intelligent people were better able to activate spontaneous thinking and controlled thought networks.

These networks play a major role in generating the idea and testing the concept. While not normally open simultaneously, fMRI scans have shown that people who are better at creative thinking appear to be able to use these networks simultaneously.

But even though the creative brain seems to have a “string” in contrast, this does not mean that the ability to think outside the box cannot be learned and developed.

How art can be developed
Since creativity is not yet fully understood and difficult to measure, it can be misleading to identify any one method of learning or teaching. For this reason, efforts to develop art often focus on understanding how the creative mind works and applying creative thought processes rather than dwelling on rhetoric or following certain rules.

In fact, in order to think intelligently, you need to be willing to challenge existing thinking, be open to new ideas and opportunities, and step out of your comfort zone by constantly trying, exploring and asking questions.

Leading psychologist and leading researcher and innovator Dr Robert Epstein has discovered four basic skills that can help people to think more creatively and generate novel ideas. His research, published in the Creativity Research Journal, shows that strengthening these four areas can greatly enhance intelligence.

In the first study, staff from Orange County, California took part in technical training sessions designed to enhance technology in all four fields. When the same employees were tested eight months later, they had increased their production capacity for a new concept by 55 percent.

So for anyone who wants to improve their intelligence, Epstein recommends working on the following:

  1. Get new ideas:
Find an effective way to keep the novel’s ideas as they unfold, without judging or editing them. This could mean holding a notebook and writing down your thoughts all day long, or using a voice recorder to record any real thoughts right there.
  2. Look for challenges:
Do not shy away from challenging problems or projects. Although there is no real solution or solution to the problem, simply forcing yourself to think about opportunities may help you to develop new ideas. Seeking challenges also means that you will fail at some point, so accepting failure as possible is a necessary part of being creative.
  3. Increase your knowledge and skills:
Epstein points out that acquiring knowledge and skills outside of your current area of expertise will make more information available in communication, which is the basis of creative thought. You can do this by taking extra classes or courses, sitting in lectures or reading journals in unrelated fields.
  4. Manage your location:
Surroundings can also have a profound effect on the way you think, and Epstein says that circulating in a variety of new and emotional and social ways can inspire new ways of thinking and ideas. This could include anything from expanding your social network to visiting museums to decorating your work or a space to learn extraordinary things.

A follow-up study by Epstein confirmed that these four techniques could improve artistic expression, but also showed that what worked best was to capture new ideas. So if you want to start with something simple, get a pocket-sized notebook and make a habit of writing down your ideas, even if at first it doesn’t seem like such.

Too much architecture is an enemy of art
In the same way that certain methods can enhance our intelligence, there are other common practices that can hinder our ability to think creatively.

Recent research from the University of Toronto, the Rotman School of Management, shows that while providing a knowledge base can help us organize our activities and perform better, more structured information can also prevent us from creating.

Researchers designed a series of tests to measure creativity and flexibility. They found that when participants used separate data sets, they showed less ingenuity and flexibility than when working with random items in any special way.

So if you are a person who likes to be creative and orderly, you may need to put aside your desire to classify and combine colors in order to allow your creativity to thrive.
