If you’re like me, you probably have a standard 9-5 job. You get up every morning, go to work, wander around in the middle of your day, drag yourself home to sleep, and do the same thing the next day.
Deep down, you know that this is not what you want in life, but it is easy and you pay the bills. You know exactly what you want to do, but something is holding you back.
I remember reading this quote from George Burns that I talked about a lot:
“I’d rather fail in something I love than succeed in something I hate.”
Reading that quote has opened my eyes to many ways. I could continue to be an unhappy company manager or do writing work despite possible rejection.
I finally jumped in faith and said, “fuck it, I’m doing this.” And you know what? I could even have millions of readers, and I might find rejection on websites and publishers. I will probably spend years writing a book that will never win big awards. Okay, anyway. Although I fail a million times during my writing career, at least I finally do something that feels productive and exciting.
I have spent almost 30 years working hard to look attractive on paper and have a job. Unfortunately, that meant putting my dreams in the back burner. I always knew what I wanted to do, but I was afraid of failing. I was afraid I would never be good enough to make a name for myself. I was afraid of what others would say and let those potential judgments drive the wheel. I was afraid I would never be able to make my dreams come true, so I decided to live a simple life.
I spent years in fear of failure instead of following my passions. But I finally decided to pursue my dreams. Eventually I stopped listening to the bad voice inside my head.
We all have big dreams, but sadly, most people have never achieved them.
Therefore, here are my advice for you…
Don’t let others stop you from living your dreams.
Dreams are crazy. They fill your life with hope. No matter how absurd your dreams may seem to someone else. Don’t worry if people do not agree with your wishes or support your goals. They are your dreams, not theirs. Never let other people stop you from following what you really want. Dreams don’t have to live inside your head alone; you can turn those dreams into reality. You can build a healthy lifestyle full of love and happiness.
Do not let fear stop you from fulfilling your desires.
If you listen to that fear within your head and allow it to control you, then you will never succeed. You will face obstacles, criticisms, and doubts along the way, but it is only part of the process. If you fail, try again and again until you succeed. Don’t give up on your dreams after a few setbacks. Keep trying! Have faith in yourself! Eventually you will be amazed at all that you accomplish when you set your mind on making your dreams come true.
Follow your heart, for it will lead you to your dreams.
Listen with your heart, and you will know exactly what to do. Work hard to achieve your goals. Remember that this is your life. You can spend your years on this Earth hating your life or loving every moment. The steering wheel is held in both hands, and you can change direction at any time. Do what makes your heart rejoice and full. You will not regret it.
I have decided to live my dream, and I urge you to make the decision to pursue your dreams.
Be confident. Follow your heart. Live your dreams.
