Why You Should Control Your Thoughts

Fear comes from your mind, which means your mind can help you win if you give it a chance. If you want to overcome your fears, you must learn to control your mind. Your mind can be your biggest enemy or your biggest asset – it’s really up to you. If you want your mind to be your friend, you have to control your thinking.

Most people are not intentional with their thoughts; they allow any thought to enter their mind and heart, as if they were unable to control their thoughts. I firmly believe that your mind is something you have to protect and manage; In the Bible, the apostle Paul wrote in his letter to the church in Philippi that we should keep our thoughts in check.

Paul put it this way: “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if any praise, think on these things” (Phil. 4: 8).

Notice what Paul says we should think about: good things, honorable, righteous, chaste, lovable — truly the first name of the power of reason! The content of our thinking has the power to change our minds, as Paul wrote in his letter to the Romans: “Be transformed by making your mind over” (Rom. 12: 2). If you are tired of negative thoughts, self-deprecating thoughts darkened by fear, then you have to turn your thoughts to what is good, good, and right to refresh your mind. It is challenging, for for some people, the power of positive thinking is simply the power to deny bad thoughts. But denying it does not help you to grow; denial does not revive your mind. Turning your mind to only positive and healthy things can do that.

Learning to refresh your mind in this way is important because, in my experience, there are many people who will go out of their way to challenge your thinking and make you doubt it. This happened to me before I left. People are always focused on the possible negative consequences, the chances of me failing and falling. I understand why they ask — they just can’t think of doing what I do because they can’t think of the victory I’ve won. Their minds only go to dark and bad places, and that’s where they expect me to go when they ask questions. But indifference is a bunch – it will absorb and hold you there, a trap that will stop you from appearing in your ideas and goals. That’s why I always encourage people to get rid of anyone and anything negative in their lives. You can’t live in a bad place and overcome your fears, which means you can’t be around the people who live there. Bad people will always want you to have a negative attitude.

But the truth is, you can’t always get rid of everyone who puts something out of your life. Sometimes it’s a piece of work. An important aspect of all of this great move I have made over the past several years has been the need to do media sessions before the event. And while I have full respect for what the media should do, I would be lying if I didn’t tell you that many of these times and the questions that come with it have an impact on my mind.

Imagine for a second you were transposed into the karmic driven world of Times Square when you were asked such things as: “Do you have the desire to die?” “You want to die on live TV?” “What if the winds are too strong and there is no way you can do it?”

I was actually asked each of those questions! And yes, they are against my mind. This is where developing this particular discipline is absolutely necessary.

Disciplining your mind will require self-sacrifice, but it will give you freedom. Start by writing down your thoughts so that you can test them. Take an hour and write down everything that comes to your head, without filtering it out. Then, at the end of the hour, look at what you wrote. Are most good or bad? Full of doubt or full of faith? Look at the pattern because you will have to break it or promote it, depending on whether it builds you up or not.

When you direct your thoughts and let it go, you begin to go straight to your dreams. This discipline is important because it is the foundation of your future, and if you have a solid foundation, or you can fall, you will come back very quickly. Build a solid foundation around good people and good things. Fill your mind with direct music and messages, beautiful words and pictures. Avoid putting destructive or harmful waste into your brain, because what you put in will definitely come out.
