12 Tips for Staying High on Stress

Exercise. Believe me, they have helped me for many days in my opinion. If you have to exercise, go for a quick walk and get that blood flowing. It is not a tool for weight loss – it is all about being healthy and mentally fit.

Eat real things. Crappy foods (fast, processed, and loaded with sugar) do not help your brain and body chemistry to manage stress. Healthy food, real food, helps support your mind and body while trying to cope with the millions of things that come your way. Every time I reach for chocolate, I want to hear something in it. Don’t get me wrong – if it’s a little here and there because I enjoy its taste, that’s fine. But the more I use it the moment I feel depressed, the more that food is no longer ready to be eaten. It doesn’t make the problem go away, and then I just feel bad about eating food to comfort myself. Take raw foods instead. Put things in your mouth that will support your body’s functioning and keep you fit.

Be careful. Try not to let stress overwhelm you. Identify situations that cause distress, and be aware that they are not. You have the best shot to prevent the full effects of pressure when you can expect it.
Take it off your chest. Talk to a friend or partner about depression. Sometimes just removing it from your chest can help ease the burden.
Keep your jokes. If you have a chance to talk about it, try to see the humor and humor in the wacky bits. I think a person is dead in the water when they have lost their sense of humor.

Always be thankful. My daughter has big lungs and speaking skills that she likes to show off. As soon as I start to want to think about her peace, I remind myself that I’m grateful she can talk to me at all. In almost every one of our problems is the flood of blessings. “Oh I don’t feel like going to the gym.” Yes, Amen. You have the power and the health to be able to fight the urge to go to work. Practice gratitude. You will notice sunny places very often, not just the gray sky and storms.

Ask, “What is speed?” Have fun. We are always busy going somewhere, just remembering to enjoy the moment. When the opportunity arises for you to do something fun, take it.

She took a deep breath. When you feel the pressure coming, take a moment. Go, even if it’s just an hour, to have your thoughts. Some people like to walk, meditate, lock themselves in a nice bathtub, or go to church. Find peace and quiet.
Keep it simple. Simplify where you can. Does Junior really need to be in 78 jobs at 5 years old? Should you go to all the small parties or gatherings you are invited to?

Turning TV. A lot of it is bad news though, and it robs us of the hours we could have spent getting other things done. As everyone complains he has no time, get some by taking it out of the tube.

Lala. When you are relaxed, you have a better gun at handling things. Not to mention, you might not easily worry if you have a chance to recover at night.

Drink water. What I have said before: Americans consume 21 percent of their calories through liquid. Mix with water. Help yourself to make the whole system work better by drinking enough water. Oh, and again, if you don’t think weight loss and proper hydration are related, think again. Shift the paradigm on its side – don’t think about exercise and nutrition as something you have to suffer to get into those genes. Instead, think of them as weapons that will protect you in this crazy world, with all the details of the bazillion you face every day.
